I converted the 55 gallon fish tank into a display case (since all our lovely koi died over a year ago). I made the hanging lights inside out of mini xmas lights and clear favour boxes covered in origami paper.
Of the dolls, the only new (me being the first owner) are the Geisha holding the little drum and the dark haired pretty boy in black and gold. Purchase order follows (first doll to most recent):
1. Geisha with helmet / thrift store $7
2. Sakura blossom maiden / thrift store $40
3. red haired boy (oldest) Japantown Antique store $25
4. bishounen in black & gold / Into Asia store $25
5. tiny girl (between paddle and bishounen) Antiqu Mall in Ohio $7
6. Washi paper Geisha / thrift store $??
7. Round pearled doll / thrift store $??
8. bag of dolls / thrift store $15 with:
doll on far left of case
male & female daruma
little girl in red kimono (next to washi)
two kokeshi
9. girl's day emperor and empress ceramic bell dolls / thrift store $6 total
10. red geisha on top left / thrift store $11
11. hagoita with samurai / antique doll store in Japantown $25
12. Geisha with drum / gift

and so I sez: Thrift Score!

With luck they won't catch whatever took out the koi. Really I think the pond goldfish were jealous and took out a hit.

I got the idea from a couple friends I used to have. Their room was filled with fishtanks they put figures in. They hadn't done any real decor in the tanks though. But still a brilliant idea!

It is. I just might have to try it sometime.

I sell seashells from my bedroom
Holy wow. What beautiful dolls.

What a brilliant idea to keep the dust off of them (always a dilemma since I have about 20 and those cases are *expensive*)!!

We got this one for $75.00 at a thrift store. It's a 55 gallon. Definitely check places like that first. As a display you won't need filters or anything. And some nice janitor strength glass cleaner will do wonders!
